Questions You Should Be Asking Your Roofer

Commack Roof Contractor
Having to deal with a faulty or problematic roof can be quite a daunting task.  Seeing rain leak into your home can be a scary thing to witness and is certainly an indication that you need to find a roofer immediately.

If you want to hire a competent and trustworthy Commack roof contractor, it will likely take a bit of research and time.  There are many so called contractors who do terrible work and swindle people out of their hard-earned money.  Homeowners need to take special care when choosing a roofer, as the expenses can be quite high.  So what should you be asking your roofer in order to ease your concerns?  Here are a few questions you should ask.

Can You Provide Some References?

Check up on your roofer's references.  This is crucial to knowing how a contractor has performed in the past.  If the contractor cannot provide any or refuses to do so, it is probably safe to stay away.

Do You Have A License, Insurance And Worker's Compensation?

Every contractor should say yes to all these questions.  You can also ask to see a copy of an relevant documents.  Feel free to look elsewhere if they cannot provide you with these.

What Is The Projected Turnaround Time For The Work?

You want a clear timeline of when the work will be completed.  Try to get your roofer to commit to a definite time that the job will take for completion.

How Much Will The Deposit Be?

Many contractors will require some form of deposit.  Be sure to find out exactly what the initial costs will be.  You should never pay the entire cost up-front though.  Simply pay the deposit, which should be about 25 percent of the total cost, and pay the rest once the work has been completed.

These are just a few things you should definitely be asking your contractor.  There may be plenty of other questions you have, but these should get you on the right path.
